Normandy ports spotlight Europe’s transition
Ports of Normandy has brought the regional voice to Brussels, hosting a conference at the European Parliament with MEPs Stéphanie Yon-Courtin (Renew Europe) and Thomas Pellerin-Carlin (S&D) to highlight the role of ports in Europe’s ecological transition and post-2027 infrastructure funding. Supported by the Normandy Region, the event gathered European policymakers, port authorities and maritime stakeholders. Hervé Morin, President of the Normandy Region and Ports of Normandy, underlined the importance of Cherbourg, Caen and Dieppe as drivers of industrial redevelopment and renewable marine energy. "Our ports are at the heart of France’s industrial and energy revival," he said.
Participants called for stronger EU recognition of regional ports, dedicated funding for decarbonisation measures such as shore power and alternative fuels, and balanced policies linking competitiveness with climate goals. (js)
