Electric corridor links Renault plants

Renault Trucks has taken another step in decarbonising its internal logistics by introducing a largely electric logistics corridor linking its production sites in Blainville-sur-Orne, Bourg-en-Bresse and Lyon. Following the launch of a CO₂-free axle transport operation one year ago between Lyon und Bourg-en-Bresse, the manufacturer has now extended electrification to the transport of cabs, engines and axles together with transport service provider Malherbe as the company reported.

The corridor plays a key role in Renault Trucks’ just-in-time production model. Cabs produced in Blainville-sur-Orne are delivered to Bourg-en-Bresse for assembly, while engines and axles manufactured in Lyon are transported to Blainville for installation in medium-duty trucks. A fleet of 22 Renault Trucks E-Tech T electric trucks operates on two coordinated loops. A staggered exchange of tractors, drivers and trailers allows daily distances of up to 810 km per vehicle according to Renault Trucks.
