Chiquita invests in cold chain
Carrier Transicold has secured a 1,000-unit order from great white fleet, the ocean transport arm of Chiquita group, for its 'OptimaLine' container refrigeration system featuring controlled atmosphere (CA) technology.
According to Carrier Transicold the CA system called 'EverFresh' enables control of oxygen and CO₂ levels inside refrigerated containers, slowing ripening and extending life for bananas and other perishables. "EverFresh is engineered for precision and performance with robust CO₂ control critical for sensitive shipments like bananas,” said Kay Henze, account manager, global container refrigeration at Carrier Transicold. According to Great White Fleet president Stefano Di Paolo, the investment supports the company’s goal of ensuring freshness and reliability on longer voyages. (js)
