BNSF, CSX announce east-west services
BNSF and CSX have announced new intermodal services linking western and eastern US markets, offering coast-to-coast rail transport.
The services include direct domestic routes between Southern California and Charlotte NC, and Jacksonville FL, as well as a new connection from Phoenix AZ to Atlanta GA, designed to convert over-the-road freight to rail. International intermodal services will also be launched between the ports of New York/New Jersey and Norfolk, VA, and Kansas City.
To support the Phoenix market, BNSF is adding two 10,000-ft sidings between Phoenix and Flagstaff. "We're looking forward to these offerings providing immediate, streamlined service to the supply chain across key markets nationwide," said BNSF's group vice-president of consumer products, Jon Gabriel.
